Support available for Melbourne event businesses

As Greater Melbourne enters its second week of lockdown, a number of state and federal government support measures have become available.

The Victorian Government has almost doubled its initial support package, bringing the Circuit Breaker Business Support Package to a total $460 million.

Event businesses may be eligible for the Business Costs Assistance Program grants of $5,000 for businesses in metropolitan Melbourne impacted by the lockdown, while information is set to be released soon about a $20 million support package dedicated to the events industry.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has announced a temporary financial support package for Melbourne workers over the age of 17 who have lost work due to the lockdown.

Events Uncovered reveals first speakers

Leaders of the business events industry will take to the stage next month to share their knowledge and insights at the seventh annual Events Uncovered.

As part of the Spice Knowledge Sessions, which run alongside the free expo on 15 July 2021 at Sydney’s SMC Conference & Function Centre, event professionals will have the opportunity to hear in-person panel discussions, Q&As and presentations across a broad range of topics.

Among the first confirmed speakers are: Claudia Sagripanti, (Exhibition & Event Association of Australia), Geoff Donaghy (ICC Sydney and Business Events Council of Australia), Nigel Collin (Meetings & Events Australia), Matt Crouch (Matt Crouch Legal), Vanessa Soldatos (EventFrog), Thomas Gray (EventsAir) and Keith Wootton (AV1).
