The halls of Sydney Showground were full again last month, as more than 1,500 brides-to-be attended Sydney’s Annual Wedding Expo, held on 27 September.
Marking the first major expo since February, the COVID-safe expo saw a number of new measures introduced to ensure all guidelines and protocols were met.
Measures included increased floor space, double-sized aisles, single entry and exit points and COVID-19 Safe Hygiene Marshals throughout the event.
Attendees were able to pre-book their tickets online and were allocated a one-hour time slot to explore the show.
Wedding Expos Australia event manager Deborah Bilson said the event proved with the right planning and precautions, you can deliver great events in the current climate.
“The exhibition was a success and displayed positive progress to operate events again in a new world,” she said.
“We showcased 100 bridal exhibitors and checked in over 1,500 visitors throughout a five-hour time period. On behalf of the team, we thank everyone who supported the event.”
Sydney Showground head of sales Andrew Roberts said Sydney’s Annual Wedding Expo has a long tradition at the venue, so it was great to welcome it back in 2020.
“It has been such a difficult time in the Australian event industry, so to run an expo at our site for the first time in over eight months and prove that we can still deliver safe and successful events within the current guidelines is a great achievement,” he said.
Sydney Showground recently announced a COVID support package for event organisers and businesses looking for extra security when organising events in 2020. Find out more here.
