Marking its 30th anniversary this year, Laissez-faire has a lot to celebrate.

A trusted name in events, Laissez-faire Catering is celebrating 30 years in Sydney this year, marking a huge milestone for the family owned and operated catering business.

Since operations began in 1989, the business has grown a strong reputation as a trusted name in event catering, built on giving our customers “what they want, how they want it and when they want it”.

On any given day, the team at Laissez-faire Catering will cater for an average 1250 people across some 15 events.

Laissez-faire Catering is now in over 26 venues in Sydney and NSW including NSW Parliament House, Harbour220, Overseas Passenger Terminal, Royal Botanic Gardens, Barangaroo Reserve and Hyde Park Barracks.

Expanding the business

In 2017, Laissez-faire Catering purchased and renovated a site in Alexandria for its own commercial kitchen.

It has significantly improved the business’ capabilities for delivering multiple events in peak periods across multiple venues.

With this kitchen and storage, Laissez-faire Catering have capacity to create high volumes of quality meals on site, store produce, crockery, cutlery and glassware in large quantities and have back-up produce for peak periods.

This supports their ability to cater to events for up to 5000 people.

Memorable events

Working in cultural institutions, Laissez-faire Catering have the opportunity to cater for some incredible themed events, which enables the chefs and staff to be highly creative.

The business recently catered the Horrible Histories Pirates Event, a family friendly invitation-only event for 300 guests at the Australian National Maritime Museum.

The roving stand-up indoor/outdoor event featured several pop-up food outlets, including a Fish and Chip Bar, Pie Bar, Buffalo-Themed Bar and Supper Canape Bar.

Some of the menu selections on offer included fish of the day, salt and pepper squid, buffalo chicken wings, corn on a cob and gourmet pies.

Recent accolades

Laissez-faire Catering recently took out bronze award for Yots Café at the NSW Tourism Awards, on their first year entering.

The company also received Green Table Australia accreditation by Restaurant and Catering Australia.
