We don’t mean to alarm you, but apparently we’re in the midst of a champagne shortage. As if 2021 hasn’t already been hard enough!
Thanks to the chaos COVID-19 has unleashed on global alcohol supply chains, as well as volatile weather for growers, skyrocketing transportation costs, and shipping delays, champagne production has dropped resulting in limited supply.
As a result, bottle shops have restricted sales of famous champagne brands such as Pol Roger, Mumm and Möet.
Dan Murphy’s has put in place a limit of 12 bottles per person and has even rationed its stock of Dom Perignon to suburbs that have a higher rate of champagne consumption.
But don’t let that burst your bubble just yet.
Your festive season events can still sparkle with plenty of Aussie bubbly to go around, as well as some lesser-known international brands well worth trying.
