Earlier this year, Laissez-faire Catering was named a catering partner for iconic Sydney venue, Hordern Pavilion.
Here, the team share more about the new partnership, including how it came about, what makes Hordern Pavilion unique and what corporate groups can expect.
Tell us about this partnership and when it became official?
We approached the Hordern Pavilion (Playbill Venues) to ascertain if there are opportunities to join their panel of caterers. We knew we could add something different to their existing three options and bring new demand and clients to the popular venue and precinct.
For our many repeat clients, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find venues that can cater for larger events – particularly when they would like Laissez-faire Catering to provide the menus, creativity and service. While at the same time delivery a new visual and aesthetic experience for their delegates.
Laissez-faire Catering was confirmed as able to cater at the venue from September 2019.
What is unique about catering at Hordern Pavilion?
This venue is impressive, accommodating banquet dinners for up to 1100 or 1500 for cocktails with more than 3,600 square metres of floor space. Those specs alone are a Sydney venue stand-out.
While it is set in a heritage and historic building, it is a blank canvas – providing opportunities to be as creative and innovative as the client desires.
It is a Sydney landmark, located in Moore Park, since its construction in 1924. Now best known as a rock concert venue, the Hordern Pavilion was originally constructed to meet the increasing demands for exhibition space at the Royal Easter Show.
This uniqueness fits nicely with Laissez-faire Catering’s expertise. That is, over our 30 year history we have developed credentials and a reputation for expert catering in heritage and historic buildings. Over the years that has included the Australian Technology Park, Hyde Park Barracks, Australian Museum, State Library of NSW, Cell Block Theatre at the National Art School and many more.
What types of menus can event planners expect?
We create unique menus for each client, dependent on their theme, their preferences, of course the budget. But very important to us and our clients is what’s local, what’s quality and what’s in season.
We are trying to buy from the bush where possible, particularly given the devastation in NSW in recent weeks.
