Pop-up shops have come a long way from a fun trend, to a mainstay element of the events, hospitality and retail industries. To meet the increasing demand, Australia’s largest supplier of shipping containers, Royal Wolf, has expanded its range of portable solutions as more businesses rely on mobile products.
Neil Littlewood, CEO of Royal Wolf, said as we enter into the age of the ‘pop-up’, the business has diversified its core expertise in shipping containers, into providing creative solutions for mobile retailers.
“As the demand for compact, easily transportable and cost-efficient alternatives to bricks-and-mortar continues to grow, we’ve responded by expanding our offering of portable solutions,” said Mr Littlewood.

Some of the innovative products Royal Wolf have added include their 10ft Mini Pop-Up and 20ft Pop-Up Shops, Outdoor Room and Event Kiosks, which are perfect for transforming into cafés, restaurants and shops, and are the ultimate space solution for festivals, events, trade shows and showroom spaces, as well as temporary retail venues.
“Event organisers are no longer just looking for practical venue alternatives for bars, restaurants and cafes, they’re wanting a creative edge that will enhance the vibe and help their stall stand out from the crowd. Our range combines both,” said Mr Littlewood.
Royal Wolf recently put its skills to the ultimate challenge when it was approached by Australia’s top rating renovation show, Channel 9’s The Block, to create a custom pop-up café for the new season.
Royal Wolf engineers constructed an operational café by inter-connecting 1 x 20ft and 1 x 10ft container to create an outdoor deck complete with tables and chairs. In the true style of The Block, time was of the essence for Royal Wolf’s engineers, who took the project from concept to design in five days, completing the container modification on-site in front of the camera crew in four days.
“Taking the cafe from design to service within a tight filming schedule was a major challenge our team managed successfully. The Block is all about reinvention and creating something unexpected, which is what our engineers do with our shipping containers on a daily basis,” said Mr Littlewood.
