Customs House Brisbane recently played host to the Inspire 2019 dinner, giving the historic venue the opportunity to showcase its offering to corporate event planners.
The third annual event aims to push the boundaries of event design, lighting and food, and sees Customs House partner with various industry suppliers to bring the event to life.
Here, Customs House director Brian Roberts shares details about this year’s event and what went into making it the night of nights.
What is Inspire all about?
Inspire is an event that aims to inspire creativity within our teams and our clients. It’s an opportunity to engage with new clients and to encourage existing ones to do something different.
This is the third year we have held the event with the same team leading it: Geraldine Hore, Athena Amarandos and myself. It is really a true collaboration.
What were the highlights of Inspire 2019?
Highlights included working with Ariel Angels to create a bespoke performance that was impactful and set the mood for the evening. For catering, light boxes were used for canapé trays, blow-torched Hervey Bay Scallops were on the menu and a main course of veal featuring mushrooms that are grown onsite in our cellar was also a stand-out.
The event also included interactive menus where guests collected their table card and this was placed into the menu that acted as a place card on the table. For floral styling, modern, luxe arrangement really created a cohesive theme and brought all elements together.
Why is Inspire such an important event for Customs House?
Inspire is an important event as it challenges our team and our partners to continually strive for how we can lift our product and improve our service.
Why is collaboration key to a successful event?
While its important to strive to be a leader when it comes to your venue and catering, it’s also important to know when it is time to bring in amazing professionals that can assist to help to lift your venue. Flowers, styling and lighting truly add another level to an event, so why not work with the best in the industry.
For Inspire, we also collaborated with the guest list to help to introduce each other to another business.
I always find that a referral is the best lead as someone has already given you their personal recommendation and that is worth its weight in gold.
