A LIST Guide Loves, Spotlight

With Peking Duk and The Veronicas on the lineup, this was an EOY celebration like no other.

Solution Entertainment proved themselves as the entertainment experts when they produced a showstopping EOY event for Chemist Warehouse in 2019.

Here, we go behind the scenes to find out what went into creating the spectacular event.

FAST FACTS

WHAT: My Chemist Warehouse EOY Partay
WHERE: Margaret Court Arena, Melbourne
WHEN: Late 2019
WHO: 3,500 Victorian employees

What was the brief?

To celebrate an incredible year for the company, My Chemist Warehouse wanted to throw an end of year party like no other. As an internal EOY celebration, the primary goal of the event was to celebrate the company’s achievements and show appreciation to all of their staff in Victoria from stores up to head office. My Chemist Warehouse needed their end of year celebration to be exhilarating, fun and safe for all. After the initial presentation of 10 different party themes, Chemist Warehouse decided on a party that was more music festival than corporate end of year celebration.

How was Solution Entertainment involved?

Solution Entertainment created a bespoke music festival party with an incredible lineup of Australian musicians, custom stage design with elements flown in from all around Australia, and spectacular special effects to create an event that wowed! Solution Entertainment also managed the registration process with attendees using their employee ID card to scan into the event and to be provided an appropriate wristband that determined their beverage allowance (i.e. underage, overage, owners and all access), in addition to thia, security and first aid officers were provided to safely manage the 3,500 attendees.

What were some of the event highlights?

The End of Year Partay concept was incredibly unique in itself; an epic music festival with a stellar musical lineup and outstanding stage design and production all for a corporate EOYC. To amplify the music festival experience, the stage was designed around eight impressive GLP Force 120 fans, with built in RBG LED. This event was the first in Australia to use eight of these fans at once, half of which had to be flown in from around the country.

To add even more wow-factor to the stage design, above the fans sat a curved DJ booth the length of all eight fans complete with a LED screen façade. The stage became truly spectacular with the addition of LED smoke jets, stage pyrotechnics and slow release flutter fetti pods, not to mention the incredible musical lineup that included Peking Duk and The Veronicas. To complement the outstanding stage, a floating platform was created in the stalls to create an exclusive VIP zone, a first for Margaret Court Arena.

What challenges did you face along the way?

After months of planning, the original event venue shut down three months before the event. Finding a 3,500 person venue with the ability to facilitate a complex guest registration and to bring the creative stage production vision to life on the busiest Saturday in November proved to be a struggle – Solution Entertainment had to completely adapt the event from a blank space event venue to Margaret Court Arena. In addition to this, one week out from the event, the guest journey was redesigned to flow due to last-minute access to a major entry point to the venue.
