What: AV1 Long Summer Lunch
When: 24 January 2020
Where: Harbourside Room at Museum of Contemporary Art
Who: 150 VIP guests of AV1
The Harbourside Room at Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) was once again the perfect space for the Long Summer Lunch.
Guests checked in using Sprintr by AV1 kiosks at the entrance to the venue, before heading up to the rooftop entering through an overgrown garden and vintage gate, while garden sounds played overhead.
Inside, the venue was transformed into an Alice in Wonderland-inspired secret garden, with an artificial grass floor scattered with leaves, greenery framing the windows and tea cups hanging from the roof.
A custom wall projection designed by AV1 art director Josh Goding took over the entire length of one wall, completing the atmosphere with whimsical garden scenes.
Divine Events were behind the styling for the event, creating an Alice in Wonderland vibe with quirky, vintage elements throughout the space.
Each of the long tables were decked out with an eclectic mix of colourful props, alongside floral arrangements and crystal glassware.
Guests’ names were tied around little glass bottles, which held a secret message inside: a complimentary ticket to MCA.
The food and beverage
The food and beverage offering by The Fresh Collective was a highlight of the event, starting with canapés and watermelon frosé cocktails on the outdoor terrace.
Guests then took their seats inside to enjoy a shared feast of meats, vegetables and salads, paired with beer and wine.
Enchanted garden dessert platters were served with dry ice to add a touch of theatre.
Enchanting sounds of violin and keyboard from Sydney band Chutney made for the perfect entertainment during the event.
During the event, guests were also invited to visit the jewellery activation, where they could busy themselves making a personalised charm bracelet or necklace to take home.
Overall, the event was a huge success, and the secret garden theme was executed flawlessly.
The A LIST Guide team particularly enjoyed the little touches like the glass bottle place holders, the eclectic mix of styling props and the jewellery activation.
We also loved the lunch spread and couldn’t go past those frosé cocktails!
