Coogee Bay Hotel, one of Sydney’s iconic seaside venues, has revealed a first look at its new guest rooms, as part of a $6 million renovation.
The hotel last went through an accommodation refurbishment in 2008, making this project a significant milestone for the property.
The new-look hotel rooms will offer a relaxed atmosphere, complemented by a modern, coastal look.
“We are excited to be investing in a new and innovative hotel offering, welcoming guests while reinvigorating Coogee as a destination for leisure and corporate travellers,” said Kun Rahadian, general manager accommodation and sales at Coogee Bay Hotel.
“To have upgraded accommodation rooms will provide a more compelling offer to our conferencing clients from around Australia.”
“The main focus for us during the design process with Coogee Bay Hotel was to incorporate a beach vibe into the new design while still taking into account the heritage
of the building and its surroundings,” said Vera McElroy, director and interior designer at ID Studios.
“We came up with a very personalised feeling that is retro chic, unexpected and playful, while set in a beautiful coastal environment.
“All consideration was given to guest amenities, leaving a great end result with unique design of texture and colourful finishes throughout.”
Guests will have a choice of two upgraded room types, each with a new in-room dining menu, sustainable amenity products and high-speed Wi-Fi.
The hotel’s 23 Heritage Rooms will be given a modern update, while paying homage to the hotel’s 146-year history through a photographic collection.
The Heritage Rooms are part of phase one of the project, which will be completed in mid-December 2019. Phase two will see the 51 Boutique Rooms also refurbished and is expected to be completed by winter 2020.
Coogee Bay Hotel offers a number of event and conference spaces, with capacity for up to 220 delegates in its largest conference space.
